Artisan Environmental offer a bespoke IATP Accredited asbestos training course geared towards individuals employed to become an operative in the asbestos removal industry. The training will be delivered quickly and effectively at the candidate’s place of work, meaning no costly hotel bills and limiting the days new operatives are unable to start work.

Most importantly you will be able to schedule this training at a time that suits your company and to fit in best with your scheduled projects, meaning you will not have to fit in with the limited timetable of a training provider and then book in your jobs around this.

Delivered as a mixture of classroom based and practical training, the course will enable the candidate to gain knowledge of asbestos removal practices and procedures that will enable them to work safely as an operative to the required standard as stated in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR2012) and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.

Candidates receive the knowledge and have practical experience of:

  • Types, Uses and Risks of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs)
  • Health Hazards of Asbestos and Legislation
  • Site Set Up, Maintenance and Dismantling
  • Controlled Stripping Techniques
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Transit Procedures and Decontamination
  • Cleaning and Clearance Air Testing
  • Plant and Equipment (using demonstration of equipment)
  • Waste Management and Disposal
  • Emergency Procedures, Non-asbestos Hazards and Fault-Finding
  • Roles and Responsibilities, Site Inspections and Record-Keeping
  • Risk Assessments, Plans of Work, Management Systems and Monitoring

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the necessary understanding of the course, by modular tests (an overall pass mark of 80% is required) and the use of preliminary and full decontamination procedures including showering in a decontamination unit.
