If you're involved with refurbishment and renovation work in properties of a certain age, or listed buildings in particular, lead paint surveys & analysis are a vital part of the process.

The process of undertaking a lead paint survey is much the same as other types of inspection. An Artisan Environmental surveyor will attend site to inspect the property and make a detailed register of lead paint coatings, this will involve taking samples of painted finishes within a given room or area depending on the scope of works. The samples are then analysed and a full report provided.

Susceptible places/surfaces include:

  • Wooden features such as banisters, spindles, floorboards, internal/external shutters
  • Doors
  • Sash windows
  • Decorative wood panels
  • Skirting boards
  • Dado rails
  • Architraves

Artisan Environmental also survey commercial or industrial premises where lead paint can be present such as:

  • Roof trusses
  • RSJ’s
  • Metal windows
  • Cladding and sheet materials.
